World Wildlife Panda Campaign

April 27th, 2009 by Jordan

pandas_wwf

First I need to give credit to the photographer of this photo…Paranoramix’s Flickr photostream can be found here. This is an effort by the WWF to increase awareness for the giant pandas and their declining population. There were 1600 paper mache pandas used, to signify how many giant pandas are left. Above is a picture of Lyon, France. They have also been to the Piazza Del Popolo in Rome, and I believe they are planning more stops before the poor paper pandas go for sale on eBay. On a side note, the World Wildlife Fund website kind of made me want to poke myself. No article about this campaign could be located using their search or google’s search. It’s an attractive site, I just found it extremely hard to get the information I wanted. Anyways, GO GIANT PANDAS!

Venice Even Stranger from Air

March 5th, 2009 by Jordan

venice from above

Not sure exactly if Dan Kitwood took the photos or just got his name posted as the site was in German, but there are a few fascinating takes on the auto-less city known as Venice.  You can check them out here.

At first glance I thought this picture was fake as I didn’t recall any square island in Venice…but that’s typical I suppose, not seeing everything a European city has to offer in a two or three day trip.  There are probably about 5 stages of knowing a place.  Stage 1:  Not knowing it exists, Stage 2: Knowing it exists and having thoughts about what it is like, Stage 3: Visiting for 1 day  to three months, Stage 4: Living there, and Stage 5: Living there from birth to death.  Most travel just gets us to stage 3 unfortunately.  Perhaps I may become a Highlander…that would be better I think.

9 Country Icon Set

November 16th, 2008 by Jordan

I decided to create some icons of a few of the more traveled countries.  You can download them here.
I’ve been using them as folder icons for my pictures of the corresponding country.  I’ll be making more general travel icons in the future, and I will add more countries.  It takes a little while to create them.

Italy FLaKoHN Series Travel Button

November 10th, 2008 by Jordan

1 day late. I usually try to get out a new button every Monday, but it’s Tuesday. These FLaKoHN Series Buttons are a limited edition (100 ct) 1″ pinback travel button. They come on the FLaKoHN Series card as well. You may be thinking geezsch $1.00 for a button…well…it’s how I fund this site…look around NO ADS!!! I fricking hate ads, so I’m trying to prove critics that blog websites can survive without ad money. You can get your button in the izuno store Cheers.

Hostel Brickette, Positano

December 9th, 2007 by Jordan

hostel brikette positano italy

Located in Upper Positano, this hostel probably has one of the most amazing views you will find at any hostel. Sitting on the balcony sipping a morning cafe will only cost you 22 euros. Very friendly staff as well when I visited. There’s not much more than eye candy and relaxation around Positano, you also have the option of hoping on the bus or boat and going to Amalfi or Sorrento for a day trip.
